Company Officer’s Badge - "Csapattiszti jelvény"
The Csapattiszti Jelvény (Company Officer's Badge) was a distinctive insignia worn by officers serving in troop or company-level command within the Royal Hungarian Army. It symbolized an officer's active leadership role and close association with the soldiers under his command.
Unlike decorations awarded for bravery or long service, the Company Officer's Badge identified an officer's field assignment and professional responsibility. Company officers were entrusted with the training, discipline, welfare, and combat readiness of their units, making them the cornerstone of leadership within the Hungarian Army.
The badge reflects the importance placed on capable junior leadership during the interwar period and the Second World War. Officers who wore it were responsible not only for leading their men in battle but also for maintaining morale, overseeing daily administration, and ensuring the effectiveness of their companies both in garrison and on campaign.
Today, the Csapattiszti Jelvény is a highly regarded piece of Royal Hungarian Army insignia. It represents the professionalism, responsibility, and leadership expected of company officers, and remains an important collectible from Hungary's military history.
