The TŰZKERESZT Digital Archive preserves, documents and publishes original photographs, documents and historical artefacts relating primarily to the military history of Hungary between 1867 and 1945.

The archive welcomes enquiries from researchers, authors, museums, publishers, collectors and documentary producers regarding archival material, historical research, image identification and licensed use of original photographs.

The purpose of the archive is not only to preserve original historical material, but to ensure that it continues to be studied, published and shared with future generations.

Image Licensing

Original photographs and selected archival material from the TŰZKERESZT Digital Archive may be licensed for historical publications, exhibitions, documentaries, educational projects and other serious research-based use.

High-resolution digital scans are available for selected material. Licensing requests are evaluated individually depending on the intended use, format, distribution and publication context.

Image licensing is not only a way of supporting the continued preservation and digitisation of the archive. More importantly, it allows original historical photographs to reach a wider audience through books, exhibitions, research and educational projects.

Every licensed image contributes to the continued preservation, digitisation and documentation of original historical material.

Online Image Access
Images published through the TŰZKERESZT Digital Archive and associated SmugMug galleries are presented as watermarked reference copies, normally resized to approximately 1500 pixels on the longest side.

These files are intended for research, identification and private study. High-resolution archival master scans are preserved separately and are available for publication, exhibition and editorial licensing upon request.
