Légoltalmi Liga
Buttonhole membership badge of the Légoltalmi Liga (Air Defence League), Hungary's principal civil air-defence organization during the interwar period and the Second World War. Worn on civilian clothing, the badge identified its wearer as a member of an organization dedicated to preparing the population for the dangers of modern aerial warfare.
The Légoltalmi Liga was established to promote civil defence through public education, training, and preparedness. Its members received instruction in air-raid precautions, first aid, firefighting, blackout procedures, and emergency response, helping communities prepare for the growing threat of air attacks.
As the Second World War intensified and aerial bombardment became an increasing reality, the League played an important role in supporting local authorities and protecting the civilian population. Membership badges such as this symbolized participation in one of Hungary's largest voluntary civil defence organizations.
