Order of Vitéz badges from the Boczán company.
Two different badges of the Order of Vitéz (Vitézi Rend), both manufactured by the renowned Hungarian firm Boczán. Although representing the same organization, the badges display subtle differences in design and production, illustrating the variations that can be found among original period pieces.
The Order of Vitéz was established in 1920 by Regent Miklós Horthy to recognize outstanding military service and personal bravery during the First World War. Membership in the Order carried both honorary distinction and social prestige, with recipients entitled to wear the characteristic badge as a visible symbol of their status.
Boczán was one of the principal Hungarian manufacturers of military insignia and decorations during the interwar period, producing high-quality badges for a variety of military and patriotic organizations. Differences between individual examples often reflect changes in production methods, dies, or manufacturing periods, making them of particular interest to collectors and researchers.
These two badges demonstrate how even small variations can reveal the history of their manufacture. Today, original Boczán-made insignia remain highly regarded by collectors as authentic symbols of Hungary's military heritage during the Horthy era.
