Historical Background
The Yugoslav Campaign of April 1941 marked Hungary's final territorial operation before entering the war against the Soviet Union. Following the collapse of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia during the Axis invasion, Hungarian forces advanced into the Bácska, Baranya, Međimurje and Prekmurje regions, reoccupying territories that had belonged to Hungary before the Treaty of Trianon.
The campaign involved coordinated operations by infantry, cavalry, armoured units, river forces and air support. Although military resistance proved limited in many areas, the advance represented an important stage in Hungary's military development and the final phase of the country's territorial revision before the Eastern Front campaign.
