Tűzharcos Szövetség
Historical Background
The Tűzharcos Szövetség (National Front-Line Fighters' Association) was one of Hungary's most influential veterans' organizations during the interwar period. Founded in 1925, it brought together former front-line soldiers of the First World War while preserving the traditions, comradeship and shared experiences forged during military service.
Through local branches, commemorative ceremonies, publications and social activities, the organization became a central part of Hungarian veteran culture. Its membership included officers, non-commissioned officers and enlisted veterans representing every branch of the former Austro-Hungarian Army and the Royal Hungarian Honvéd.
The TŰZKERESZT Archive preserves original photographs, membership cards, badges, publications and historical research illustrating the history of the Tűzharcos movement and the lives of Hungary's First World War veterans.
