Photograph in the winter

The border guard branch was identified by its distinctive collar patches, featuring the branch colors of green and red, with a green field bordered in red. These colors made the branch easily recognizable and reflected the unique identity of Hungary's border guard units, whose primary responsibility was the protection and surveillance of the nation's frontiers.
This winter portrait preserves an excellent example of the early interwar border guard uniform, illustrating both the appearance of the soldiers and the distinctive insignia of one of the Royal Hungarian Army's specialized branches.
